"Boot Camp Changed My Life!"

Why did I start Boot Camp?
  I had been teaching aerobics for 10 years – the past 4 giving my clients a good workout, but not pushing myself any harder than necessary.  I could see my weight inching up but really didn’t think anything about it.  I’d always been able to increase my workout and keep eating what I wanted.  So I decided to add walking 3 days a week.  Well guess what, that didn’t quite work because my eating habits did not change. 

The fact is I was exercising just enough to keep my conscience clear but no more and on top of all that I had fallen into some very bad eating habits.  Yes, I could blame it on my age, you know the story, the older you get the harder it is to lose weight – well part of that may be true but honestly I think I was using that as a crutch and then I just got lazy. 

Well that mentality pushed me up to my highest weight ever (except when I was pregnant) to a whopping 176 pounds!

Then a year ago a very dear friend asked me if I wanted to join her for a boot camp…that began at 5:30 a.m. which meant getting up even earlier at 5:00 a.m.  I am not a morning person by any means, but I thought “why not, I’ll give it a try and if after the month I really don’t like it I’ll quit”.  So in early June 2007 I began my first boot camp.  The progress was slow at first but camp by camp the results of my hard work started to show. 

I have just completed my 11th camp, (one full year) and dropped two dress sizes AND I plan to continue.  As long as Cliff Latham is offering boot camp I will be there!

It is hard to explain but boot camp is addictive.  It is not just the transformation your body goes through, that part is great, but it is also the amazing women I have met and work out with each morning.  The energy, encouragement and drive they have are incredible.  We are all there to accomplish something important for ourselves – to get fit and be healthy. 

Is it hard getting up at 5:00 a.m. – YES – is it worth it??? ABSOLUTELY!  I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
